Day 9 in Greece: Waiting for First Scan

I sent Jenny a note yesterday evening that my period has officially started, she has scheduled my first scan for tomorrow. So, today is another day of waiting and resting through cramps.

In the meantime, I want to introduce you to the animals of Ydra Platia.

Bathing Birds

These little ones like to drink the water that is coming from the condensation of the air conditioner, they even bathe in it a little bit. They are fun to watch but are very hesitant around humans.

Bathroom Cockroach

I know these are harmless, I know. But man are they the worst. We have a cockroach living in our bathroom and it only comes out at night, so it is like going into a suspense movie everyone we have to go in the middle of the night. Is the cockroach out? Will it move? Then it ends up running straight for your feet for no apparent reason.

Favored Cats

Kai spotted this cat, it took me forever to find it. Can you find it?

All around the city there are stray cats. Where I am from, stray cats would be seen as a nuisance or something to be adopted. Here, it is like the whole city has adopted them. You see a lot of shelters with food and water for the cats, they are living their best lives.

Happy Dogs

It seems like everyone has a dog, and they are happy to show them off. Interestingly, we have seen a few stray dog. Normally, when you think of a stray dog you think of a feral maybe aggressive, maybe scared dog. Not here – every stray dog we have seen has a happy wagging tail and knows how to go through traffic better than your average tourist. There is something about Greece that just brings out the healthy in everything.

Diving Dolphins

The first morning we were here I sat on the porch and stared out over the water and was very surprised to see dolphins. I have been looking for them ever since. What a happy thing.

The animal we can’t find – mosquitoes!

I don’t know if it is because the temperatures are abnormally hot for this time of year, but it seems like there are no mosquitoes. Another wonderful thing!
